It is unclear when the club was established, but the earliest mention of football in the village is from 1910, when the club was playing in the Wantage section of the North Berks Football League.〔(History ) Letcombe F.C.〕 In 1912–13 they won the Wantage section, setting up a championship play-off match against Radley. After the match ended 1–1, the trophy was shared.〔 The club continued to play in the North Berks League until folding in the 1950s.
The club was reformed in 1961, and in 1988 won the North Berks Cup by defeating Saxton Rovers 1–0. Two seasons later the club won the Premier Division of the North Berks League and were undefeated during the season.〔 The success saw the club move up to Division One of the Chiltonian League.〔 The club won Division One at the first attempt, earning promotion to the Premier Division.
In 1993 the club joined Division One of the Hellenic League. When the league was restructured in 2000, they were placed in Division One West, before being transferred to Division One East in 2002.〔 Three seasons later they were moved back into the West division, where they remained until being moved back into the East division in 2011. In 2012 they were moved back to the Hellenic Division One West.
Mid way through the 2013/2014 season, Alan Gifford stepped down as manager. Freddie Wright stepped up from the now defunct Reserve side and along with Des Williams saw the season out as Joint Managers.
The two were announced as the management team for the upcoming 2014/2015 season. Freddie Wright stepped down from his role in December and the management role has since been taking on by former player David Richardson. Richardson led the team to the Last 16 of the League Cup and has taken the role until the end of the season.
The reserve team has been run this season by chairman Dennis Stock who has signed a number of talented youngsters to the club.
